The National Documentation Centre, operating as the Greek National Contact
Point for the NEST (New and Emerging Science and Technology) has the
pleasure of inviting you to the relevant National event, which will be held
on Thursday, 29 January 2004, in Athens.
The event is organised by the National Documentation Centre
in collaboration with the General
Secretariat of Research and Technology. The event is supported by the DG
"Research" of the European Commission.
NEST is a new activity within the 6th Framework Programme, supporting
unconventional and visionary research with the potential to open new fields
for European science and technology. It will also support research on new
potential problems uncovered by science and help to consolidate European
efforts in emerging fields of research.
Since its main function is to encourage research in new areas, NEST operates
on the principle of very close liaison with the research community in
Europe, relying on it as the main source of creativity and new ideas.
NEST supports three complementary action lines, ADVENTURE, INSIGHT and
PATHFINDER, each contributing to the overall goal of anticipating future
scientific and technological needs.
In addition to developing new scientific understanding and capabilities, and
opening up new fields, NEST activities will also assist in planning future
activities in the European Research Area. The overall budget for NEST within
FP6 is 215€million.
Event’s sessions will address the issues of Call for Proposals as well as
for proposal submission within the framework of NEST (Please, refer to the
attached draft Agenda).
Participation will be free of charge |
