Small and medium sized enterprises located in rural and undeveloped urban areas can access online information and commercial consulting services with the help of the new information technologies of the project "EMBRACE". The project is co-financed by the European programme INTERREG and involves the participation of 12 organisations from five countries (Greece, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria) coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thessaloniki.

The objective of the project is to increase access of SMEs to Knowledge and the Information Society in order to improve their efficiency and competitiveness.

Online services provided include: information on funding opportunities and finding investors, consulting services for the utilisation of new technologies and the development of e-commerce as well as information on new methods and means for technology, innovations and know-how transfers. Moreover, the EMBRACE network gives SMEs the opportunity to develop international collaborations and networking with businesses, academic and research centres, public organisations, etc.
