Abstract:
GMDSS Training Simulator is a complete multifunctional system based on both H/W and S/W with the objective to come up with a system simulating identically the real GMDSS console aboard the commercial ships.

Description:
The GMDSS Simulator MARAC SIM1000 consists of the Instructor`s console and the Trainee`s consoles which can be 2 up to 12 consoles.

Instructor`s Console: There have been provided a wide range of dynamic training tools for:

• Creation of exercises
• Definition of the configuration of each trainee`s console
• Exclusion or selection of any equipment in the consoles at any time
• Simulation of the terrestrial communication infrastructure for the GMDSS distress and safety communication
• Activation of NAVTEX messages and INMARSAT-C EGC Safety net messages as well as DSC distress acknowledgement
• Supervision of all the trainees actions in real time
• Friendly user`s interface developed in WINDOWS

Trainee`s Console: There has been provided the complete range of GMDSS Realistic equipment for A4 duplicated equipment, simulation of the INMARSAT-A telephony services as well as the radiotelephony services of the MF/HF and VHF devices. In the simulation of the NAVTEX, VHF and MF/HF systems there have been taken into account the propagation conditions depending on the relevant distances between the simulated vessels. Therefore when a station is transmitting a VHF signal, it would be received only by the stations which are ''sailing'' close to the transmitting station. This is achieved by a sophisticated algorythm which has been developed in the system, which allows or not the reception of each transmission according to the real parameters.

Control and performance of all the available equipment in the consoles is according to real equipment.
