The European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), an
advisory body for Member States and EU institutions on matters of
network and information security based in Crete, has completed its first
year of operation.
Among other things, the Agency's activities include providing advice on
handling security problems with hardware and software products and
promoting methods for assessing and managing related risks. Moreover,
ENISA collects and analyses data on security incidents in Europe,
monitors the development of product and service standards in the network
and information community, encourages the exchange and dissemination of
best practices and facilitates communication between European
organisations, Member States, private businesses and industry.
To date, ENISA employees have participated in 300 missions outside
Greece and have organised a significant number of international and
European meetings in Crete.
