Abstract:
Structural Health Monitoring is a technique, which examines and locates possible damage in the structural elements of a construction. The system, developed by a Greek company consists of sensors placed on the structure, a radio - modem that transfers sensor measurements to a remote PC and a database which processes, evaluates and stores the collected data in real time. The system is open and highly customisable, cost effective and wireless. They seek a partner for a technical co-operation.
Description:
The objective of Structural Health Monitoring is the examination and location of possible damage in the structural elements of a construction.
The developed structural health monitoring system consists of three major parts:
- A sensing module, which is placed on the structure. This module consists of various types of sensors depending on the nature of the structure. This also includes a signal collection and conditioning unit.
- A radio - modem module for the wireless transfer of the collected data to a remote PC.
- A database application, which collects, stores and processes the sensor data in real time, in order to provide an exact evaluation of the condition of the structure.
Innovative Aspects:
In comparison to similar technologies, the developed system is wireless, enabling installation in remote located structures and also saving cabling costs.
Main Advantages:
The developed system is cost effective and has an open architecture allowing for its customisation and future expansion. Also it allows for the implementation of a variable number and various type of sensors.
