The 5th Framework Programme (FP5) for Research and Technological Development was the main funding programme for the European research in the period 1998-2002, with a total budget of 15 billion euro.

The National Documentation Centre (EKT), as the National Contact Point for the FP5, provided information and support services to Greek bodies (research institutes, universities, companies, public sector), thereby contributing to their successful participation in the programme.

EKT organised several information days and conferences, with the participation of high level officials of the European Commission, disseminated information material to specific target groups via electronic means (e-mail, e-newsletter) and provided support services through the relevant Help Desk.
