The eContent programme supports the production, use and distribution of European digital content on the global networks, aiming at the exploitation of new technologies and the development of a competitive European industry.
The eContent programme is part of the eEurope Action Plan, which was approved at the European Councils of Lisbon and Feira, in the first semester of 2000. The Lisbon Summit stressed the predominant role of digital content in the Information Society, since it creates added value by exploiting and networking the European cultural diversity.
Action Lines of the Programme:
- Improving access to and expanding use of public sector information
- Enhancing content production in a multilingual and multicultural environment
- Increasing the dynamism of the digital content market.
The National Documentation Centre (EKT), as National Contact Point for the eContent programme, provides information and support services to the Greek bodies (research institutes, universities, companies, public sector) for their successful participation in the programme.
More information regarding the eContent programme, the participation rules, the procedure for the submission of proposals, the evaluation criteria and the open calls are included, among others, on EKT’s special web service http://www.ekt.gr/ncp/econtent.
