The exploitation and promotion of new technologies, which demands a high level of scientific manpower and contribute to the creation of technological enterprises by supporting the competitiveness of Greek organisations and companies, forms the basis of the development strategy, adopted by Greece during the period 2001-2006.
A group of programmes within the framework of 3rd Community Support Framework (CSF) is the means of promoting this particular strategy. The Operational Programmes "Competitiveness (OP "COM") and "Information Society" (OPIS) are included in this specific group. At the same time, certain other aspects of the efforts involved in the transition of the country to a digital economy are also covered by the Operational Programme "Education and Primary Vocational Training" (EPEAEK II).
